Dragonlances

The legendary Dragon-killing lances of Huma.

Category:
weapon (melee)
Description:

Lesser Dragonlance:

+2 Dragon-Bane Lance

1d8 + 2 Piercing Damage

A Lesser Dragonlance has luminescence, but not enough to be of actual use for light. The glow is actually the magic within the lance culminating at the tip, and the light is lost for a full round if the lance strikes a dragon; it does not lose any of its effectiveness if its wielder strikes again, however.
Against Dragons: +2d6 Bane Damage
If the lance is used against a dragon and scores a critical hit, in addition to the standard and Bane damage, the lance deals an additional 3d8 points of damage and 1d4 CON Drain to the dragon.

Greater Dragonlance:

+4 Greater Dragon-Bane Lance

2d8 + 4 Piercing Damage

A Greater Dragonlance has luminescence, but not enough to be of actual use for light. The glow is actually the magic within the lance culminating at the tip, and the light is lost for a full round if the lance strikes a dragon; it does not lose any of its effectiveness if its wielder strikes again, however.
Against Dragons: +4d6 Bane Damage, 1 CON Drain per hit.
If the lance is used against a dragon and score a critical hit, in addition to the standard and Bane damage and CON drain, the lance deals an additional 6d8 points of damage and 1d8 CON Drain to the dragon.

Bio:

The fabled Dragonlance, also called the Spear of
Paladine by some, was created to destroy the legions
of evil dragons during the Third Dragon War. Many
were created in these early days, although not too
many of the originals remain in the world today. It is
said that in order to craft a Greater Dragonlance, the
smith must have a supply of dragonmetal, like that at
the Silver Dragon Mountain in Foghaven Vale. This
metal must be forged by someone that has the Silver
Arm of Ergoth, using the Hammer of Kharas.

If only two of these three components are present for forging,

the Lance is a Lesser Dragonlance. Theros Ironfeld
created the first Dragonlances in over millennia
for use in the War of the Lance against the flying
hordes of Takhisis’ evil dragons. They would then be
largely unused for three millenia. They were used
once again, against the forces of Chaos in what
came to be known as the Summer of Chaos, or the
Second Cataclysm.

There are two kinds of Dragonlance — the Lesser and Greater. Lesser Dragonlances can be crafted without dragonmetal, but require the Arm of Ergoth AND the Hammer of Kharas, as well as either adamantine or cold iron materials. To create a Greater Dragonlance, one needs all three components, including dragonmetal.

Knowledge of crafting these legendary weapons is god-granted, in the form of ancient texts and scrolls, as well as the mythical Disks of Mishakal. Any person with Craft (weapon) or Craft (Blacksmithing) can learn how to create these powerful magic items, using only the materials’ cost.
